Shavuot marks the receiving of the Torah at Mount Sinai, as well as the culmination of the Omer journey, and the wheat harvest. In ancient times, Shavuot included the bikkurim offering of first fruits at the Temple. Today, this celebration of revelation, Torah, responsibility, and covenant is often observed with all-night learning and delicious dairy-based treats.
"Shavuot reminds us that with knowledge comes responsibility. In 2026, we are called to listen deeply to the wisdom of our tradition, the voices of frontline communities, and signs from the Earth itself. The climate crisis is not only a threat to the physical well-being of all living communities – it raises existential moral questions about our role and responsibility in a climate changing world. We are not only inheritors of this ongoing revelation and wisdom, we are participants in shaping the future."
