Social Good Fund d/b/a Dayenu (“Dayenu”, “we”, or “us”) is committed to protecting your privacy online.

This Privacy Policy applies to the Dayenu websites (www.dayenu.org, the “Sites”). This Privacy Policy will help you understand how we collect and/or use any personal information that users (“you” or “your”) provide when you use the Sites. It also describes the choices available to you regarding our use of your personal information and how you can access and update this information.

By using the Sites, you are consenting to the Privacy Policy. We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy from time to time, as it may change.

1. What Information Do We Collect?

We may collect your data when you submit it to us (including though the Sites).

If you wish to receive communications from us, you must provide the following information:

  • Information Collected Automatically: We also collect certain technical information automatically when you use the Sites. We collect this information in order to provide Site functionality and for our internal analytics only.

  • Log Information: We collect server log information when you use the Sites, which includes (but is not limited to) the date and time of your visits, the pages viewed, and time spent on the Website.

  • Device Information: We collect information about the computer or mobile device you use to access the Website, including the hardware model, operating system and version, and the web browser you use.

  • Usage Information: We use various technologies, including third-party cookies, to collect additional information about your use of the Sites, including the websites you visit before and after visiting the Sites, which pages you view, which features you use and how often, how much time you spend on pages or functionalities, and which links on the Sites you have clicked on. We collect this information to understand how the Sites are working and how to improve it for you. Cookies are small data files placed on your web browser which enable us to collect this information. You can disable cookies to prevent the collection of the above usage information by changing a setting in your web browser. Please note, however, that without cookies certain aspects of the Sites may not function properly.

The following list includes the most common ways that you may provide your personal data to us and the types of personal data that we may collect in these ways:

Registration. We do not ask that you register or enter any personal data to access or use most areas of the Sites. However, you may choose to subscribe to certain newsletters or bulletins distributed by Dayenu, or to join Dayenu’s mailing list. To do so, you may be required to enter certain personal data, including your name, email address, phone number, and mailing address.

Online Activism. To send a message from our online action center to government officials and other decision-makers, you are required to identify yourself by name, address, email address, and optional phone number. Dayenu includes this information when we send your message. This is necessary for your message to be effective, and in the case of many government officials, it is required. Dayenu may also use this personal data to contact you via email, phone, text message or postal mail with the latest alerts and progress reports. Please note that comments sent to governmental agencies may be made available publicly, often via the web, and will sometimes include the full name and address of the person(s) submitting the comments.

Postcards and “Tell Your Friends” Pages. To forward an article, postcard or action alert, you may be required to enter your name, email address, phone number and the email address(es) of your intended recipient. Dayenu includes your name and email address when we send your message. By submitting personal data about others, you represent and warrant that you have full authority to do so. Dayenu only retains and tracks the data of your recipients if they explicitly opt-in.

Donations and Gifts. In order to make a donation or a gift in someone else’s name through the Sites, you may be required to input your name, address, credit card information, and email address for yourself and, in the case of a gift being sent through an e-card, the name and email address of the individual for whom the gift is made. For gifts, Dayenu will use your personal data and the gift recipient’s personal data that you provide for the sole purpose of fulfilling the gift purchase. By submitting personal data about others, you represent and warrant that you have full authority to do so.

When you donate to Dayenu via the Sites, your donation information (i.e., your name, address, phone number, donation amount, your credit card number, expiration date of your credit card, and the name and email address of the recipient, if applicable) is encrypted and transmitted via a secure connection to our third-party payment processor, Paragon Solutions. Dayenu uses your credit card information only for the purpose of processing your donation. We will not disclose credit card information except as necessary to process your donation or as required by law or legal process, and we do not store credit card information once your donation has been processed. Your donation information may be stored by our third-party payment vendors, EveryAction and Paragon Solutions.

Communications between you and Dayenu. As described in this Policy, you may contact Dayenu or subscribe to newsletters and other mailings, and Dayenu may respond to your inquiries or request for mailings. Additionally, when you provide Dayenu with your email address, phone number and mailing address, we may contact you.

Voter Files and Donation History. We may associate information you provide to us with publicly available information such as your voter files or donation history.

Other purposes. In addition to the above, we may process personal data for other purposes for which either we or our client(s) will provide notice to you at the time of collection.

2. Mobile Messaging.

Dayenu may also ask for your mobile number so that you can be kept up to date on breaking news and the latest actions via text message.

By subscribing to Dayenu alerts, you consent to receive automated text messages from Dayenu.

There is no fee from Dayenu to receive text messages. Message and data rates may apply; you can this can check this with your mobile service provider. Charges are billed and payable to your mobile service provider or deducted from your prepaid account.

You can opt-out of text messages by emailing [email protected] or replying STOP to any Dayenu text message.

Data obtained from you in connection with this SMS service may include your mobile phone number, your carrier’s name and the date, time and content of your messages. We may use this information to contact you and provide the services you request from us. Alerts sent via SMS may not be delivered if the mobile phone is not in range of a transmission site, or if sufficient network capacity is not available at a particular time. Even within a coverage area, factors beyond the control of the wireless operator may interfere with message delivery, including the customer’s equipment, terrain, proximity to buildings, foliage, and weather. Wireless operators do not guarantee message delivery and will not be held liable for delayed or undelivered messages.

We will not be liable for any delays in the receipt of any SMS message as delivery is subject to effective transmission from your network operator.

3. How You Can Access and Manage Your Information.

You can opt out of any type of communication from us at any time by contacting [email protected].

You are also able at any time to unsubscribe from specific publications that you are receiving by e-mail by clicking a link that appears in the email publication itself.

You cannot opt out of providing the information required to use the Sites if you wish to use the features and functionality of the Sites. You can disable further information collection by cookies by changing a setting in your web browser.

4. When Do We Share Your Personal Data?

Dayenu may disclose your personal data to third parties, including:

  • Vendors, consultants, or other service providers and volunteers who need access to such information to carry out work on our behalf;
  • Organizations, campaigns, groups or causes that we believe have similar political viewpoints, principles or objectives or share similar goals and with organizations that facilitate communications and information sharing among such groups;
  • As required by law or requested by governmental or law enforcement authorities, subpoena, court order or discovery request, or when we otherwise believe in good faith that such disclosure is appropriate to enforce our Terms of Service or in connection with any activity that may violate the law or the rights of others, threaten the safety or security of any person or property (including the Site) or expose us to liability.
  • If we believe your actions are inconsistent with the spirit or language of our user agreements or policies, or to protect the rights, property, and safety of Dayenu, its employees, volunteers, constituents, or others;
  • In connection with, or during negotiations of, any reorganization, formation of new committee or successor organization, asset sale or transfer, financing or lending transaction or in any other situation where personal information may be disclosed or transferred as one of the assets of Dayenu;
  • With your consent or at your direction, including if we notify you through our Site that the information you provide will be shared in a particular manner and you provide such information.

5. Retention of Personal Data.

We may retain your personal data for as long as is necessary to fulfill the purposes for which we have collected it, including for the purposes of satisfying any legal, regulatory, accounting, reporting, insurance, professional indemnity, internal policy or other requirements.

We may anonymize your personal data (so that it can no longer be associated with you) for research or statistical purposes. In such cases, we may retain this information indefinitely without further notice to you.

6. Third Party Websites.

Dayenu may provide links to websites operated by third parties for your convenience and information. Many of these websites and applications operate independently from us, and we do not control all of their privacy practices. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of any third-party websites and applications that you use to better understand their privacy practices.

7. International Use.

If you are using the Sites from outside the United States and provide us with personal information, please note that your personal information collected by the Sites will be transferred, stored and processed in the United States.

The laws of the United States applicable to the storage and use of personal information may be less protective than the law of your jurisdiction. By using the Sites, you are voluntarily transferring your personal information to facilities located in the United States.

8. Children’s Privacy.

The Sites are not targeted toward, and we do not seek or desire to collect information from, children under the age of 13 in the United States (or age 16 outside the United States). We do not request any information from persons under such ages. Please do not provide any personal data to us for any reason unless you are at least the age of 13 in the United States (or age 16 outside the United States), and please caution your children not to do so.

If a child under the age of 13 in the United States (or age 16 outside the United States) has provided personal data to us through the Sites without verifiable parental consent, a parent or guardian may inform us at [email protected], and we will use commercially reasonable efforts to delete such information within a reasonable period of time, subject to applicable law and this Policy.

9. California Privacy Rights / “Do Not Track” Signals.

Dayenu does not track its users to provide targeted advertising and therefore does not respond to Do Not Track (DNT) signals. However, some third-party sites do keep track of your browsing activities when they serve you content, which enables them to tailor what they present to you. If you are visiting such sites, certain web browsers allow you to set the DNT signal on your browser so that third parties (particularly advertisers) know that you do not want to be tracked. You should consult your web browser’s “help” feature for instructions on how to set the DNT signal.

10. Security Measures.

Dayenu takes care to protect the integrity and security of our systems and the information we collect. We work hard to maintain a range of security safeguards designed to protect against unauthorized access to our user information. We are unable, however, to guarantee the security of your information.

11. Updates to This Privacy Policy.

Dayenu may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The date at the top of this policy indicates when it was last updated.

We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically and to review any revisions to the policy.

14. Jurisdiction.

Any legal suit, action or proceeding arising out of, or related to, this Privacy Policy or the Sites shall be instituted exclusively in the State of New York, in either the federal courts of the United States in the Southern District therein, or the courts of the State of New York, located in the City of New York and County of New York, provided that we retain the right to bring any suit, action or proceeding against you for breach of this Privacy Policy in your country of residence or any other relevant country. You agree to waive any and all objections to the exercise of jurisdiction over you by such courts and to venue in such courts.
