Liya Rechtman (she/her) is the senior transportation policy advisor for Evergreen Action. She previously advised on policy for the US Department of Transportation Office of the Secretary during the Biden-Harris Administration. She served as lead author for the Climate Strategies that Work and Agency Chapter Lead Author for the 6th National Climate Assessment. She received a Secretary’s Gold Medal, Secretary’s Medal, and Undersecretary’s Award for her work on climate policy. Previously, Liya served as a policy advisor for the California State Transportation Agency, Manager of the Coalition on the Environment and Jewish Life, and legislative assistant for the Religious Action Center for Reform Judaism. She was a John F. Kennedy Fellow and Wexner Fellow/Davidson Scholar at the Harvard Kennedy School of Government and the Harvard Divinity School. She graduated summa cum laude from Amherst College.
