About the training
Taking Down Goliath is Dayenu’s climate-focused Jewish community organizing training offered exclusively to 18-32 year olds. Get the tools you need to organize on your campus, with your friends, and in your communities. Together over the course of for sessions, we learn about strategy for building social movements, theory and practice for organizing on college campuses and beyond, and make a plan for bringing meaningful climate action to our communities.

Cost: There is no fee to participate in the training.
Accessibility: All workshops will have automated closed captioning. We can share training materials in advance to those who request it. Please let us know if you have specific accessibility needs when you register, so that we can make sure to meet your needs.
Stipends. Participants who complete all four sessions are eligible for a $50 stipend to support your investment of time in movement-building for our future.

Zoe Goldlum is a life-long activist who has dedicated her career to community and electoral organizing. She has worked on bold, progressive campaigns that prioritize climate action, including for Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, and led J Street U as its 2017 national board president. She manages Dayenu’s Young People Organizing Program.
Muriel MacDonald (she/they) is an organizer based in San Francisco. Muriel trained hundreds across the country with Sunrise Movement, coordinated direct actions, and served as a Hub Coordinator for Sunrise Bay Area. She supports Dayenu Circles across the country, and leads development of the Taking Down Goliath curriculum.
Sumner Lewis is a Jewish writer, history buff, and musician. She wrote for Alma as a 2020-2021 College Writing Fellow. At Dayenu, Sumner focuses on supporting young people – ages 18 to 30 – with Jewish climate organizing and coordinates Dayenu’s Jews of Color Caucus.
(Guest Speaker) Juan Flores is the lead Community Organizer for the Center on Race, Poverty, and the Environment’s Climate Justice Campaign, he has led the organizing efforts to stop fracking and other extreme methods of oil extraction. Juan has led the organizing efforts to achieve a comprehensive state law that will provide a 2500 feet buffer zone from oil extraction in California’s communities, a decade-long, campaign that a number of California Dayenu Circles joined in 2021. Juan is the lead organizer of CRPE’s Just Transition efforts to achieve a just transition of oil workers to clean, safe, and unionized jobs.
Maetal Gerson (she/her) is a Dayenu organizing and leadership development fellow and a first year rabbinical student at JTS. She has been involved with Dayenu for years as a Dayenu Circle leader of EcoJews in Chicago and as a BIPOC climate participant for the Faithful Climate Action Fellowship.
Savannah Lipner is a Dayenu organizing and leadership development fellow and a a first year rabbinical student at JTS. She is a graduate of the UW Madison where she founded Jews for Climate Justice which serves as an active Dayenu circle in Madison, has interned for GrowTorah, and worked for the Rising Tide Network.
Julia Stern is a Campus Organizing Intern at Dayenu and a sophomore at Swarthmore College. She organizes with Chester Residents Concerned for Quality Living, a community-led environmental justice group based in the city of Chester.
Grant Pacernick is a Campus Organizing Intern at Dayenu and a sophomore at The George Washington University. Grant is originally from Buffalo Grove, Illinois where he got his start in organizing.
