This year we’re marking the Omer — a counting period between the Jewish holidays of Passover and Shavuot — by sharing songs of resilience from Jewish climate movement musicians recorded at our Song and Solidarity gatherings.

The first week’s theme is Chesed, or ever-expanding loving-kindness. Here’s Chloe Zelkha sharing her gorgeous rendition of “Song for the Divine Mother of the Universe” by Ben Lee. In these increasingly difficult times, may we be reminded that we are held and loved by infinite gentleness, and that the universe has our back as we fight for a livable future.💖
Week two’s theme is Gevurah, or justice/strength/boundaries. For this week, we have Rachel Chang and Aly Halpel singing “Time of Change” by Kohenet Keshira HaLev Fife.
We love so much about this song – how it supports us to keep showing up, to keep dreaming, to stay connected with each other. This week, may we be reminded that we are the ones we’ve been waiting for, and may we feel a loving push towards remembering our significance and taking action together.
The theme is Tiferet, or beauty/harmony/balance. We have Molly Bajgot and Ilana Lerman singing “I Am Open” by Holly Near.
Hope is a balancing act – we reach towards the beauty of the world and say, this is worth continuing to fight for. As this song offers, “give me a sunset/to hold my wonder/give me an ocean/to hold my tears.” This week, may you be supported towards hope by the beauty and harmony of all that is.🪷
Our fourth week’s theme is Netzach, or endurance/resilience.
For this week, we have Rabbi Dr. Koach Baruch Frazier singing “Liberation is Possible” by Orion Johnstone. When it’s hard to keep going, this song insists on singing the things we want into reality. This week, may you be gifted with extra resilience, and be reminded that we are on this journey together not just to endure, but to live in a world where we all thrive.🌻
This week’s theme is Hod, or humility/awe/surrender.
For this week, we have Batya Levine and Aly Halpert singing “Just For a Little While” by Raphael Agosto-Miranda. Sometimes, we just need a break. Rhythms of rest and recovery keep our movement resilient and healthy in the long run. This week, may you feel permission to ask for a hand or a reminder when you need it, to rest and remember that your well-being is holy, too.💓
