This spring, we brought Dayenu’s Spiritual Adaptation workshops to three gatherings in New York – inspiring, comforting, and empowering people to face the climate crisis with eyes and hearts open.
Rabbi Laura Bellows, Dayenu’s Director of Spiritual Activism & Education, led participants through Dayenu’s highly experiential workshop for three different gatherings, drawing on Jewish teachings, stories, and music. The workshop guides participants to confront the overwhelming and existential threat of the climate crisis, cultivate a sense of connection and active hope, and commit to bold action.
Participants reported feeling informed, refreshed, and connected to their roots and each other.
Locations included: Temple B’nai Torah, hosted by the Nassau County Dayenu Circle on Long Island; Congregation B’nai Jeshurun’s rooftop garden, hosted by the BJ Environmental Advocates in Manhattan; and the Eco-Spirituality & Climate Action conference at Vassar College.
“We had so many folks from all walks of life,” reports Rabbi Bellows. “From teens leading rousing songs to longtime activists sharing from their experience to multi-faith clergy writing their visions for a just and livable future. It was wonderful to connect and learn from each other, and find comfort together in this difficult time.”
