Tell the EPA: Do not repeal limits on pollution from power plants

The EPA is planning to repeal critical standards for power plant carbon pollution, the largest industrial source of those emissions (more than 1.5 billion tons emitted each year). This repeal will immediately result in more pollution, illnesses, and premature deaths, while accelerating the climate crisis.

It also exacerbates energy inequity, placing health and financial burdens — from surging medical bills to elevated energy costs — disproportionately on Black, Brown, and Indigenous communities where these facilities are more likely to be located.

This environmental injustice is part of this administration’s broad attack on reasonable climate action. By shifting the true cost of fossil fuels onto vulnerable households, it deepens racial and economic disparities.

The Clean Air Act obligates the EPA to issue standards to reduce emissions from sources that significantly contribute to dangerous air pollution. Repealing these standards without a replacement is an abdication of its legal responsibility to protect public health and ensure an equitable, affordable clean energy transition.
