Tell Your Legislator: Support Heat Pumps In California

Californians should have every tool available to lower energy costs.

Heat pumps are efficient ways to heat and cool a home, and can enable households to save on their energy bills, especially when tapping the sun for cheap, abundant power.

The Heat Pump Act (SB222)  will modernize permitting for heat pump installations, reducing cost and hassle for contractors and consumers alike, and move California closer to meeting its climate goals. This legislation enables renters and residents of apartment buildings access to lower costs and clean energy the same way homeowners can.

Extreme weather events like heat waves and explosive wildfires are on the rise in California, and exacerbated by fossil fuel use. More than a quarter of Californians lack air conditioning, and low-income households and communities of color are significantly less likely to have access to the cooling they need to stay safe during extreme heat events.

Take a minute to tell lawmakers you want them to support policies that will make our energy more reliable, resilient, and affordable.
