Jews Against ICE actions

From sounding the shofar to marching with polar bears, Dayenu activists joined with thousands of American Jews on February 11 to say “Jews Against ICE.”

We rallied with a broad coalition of Jewish organizations to mount actions in Washington, DC outside the ICE headquarters; in Burlington, MA outside the ICE detention facility; and in Minnesota.

Both energy and outrage were infectious. In DC, more than 100 rabbis in town for the T’ruah conference led the way with moral might. In MA, the action coincided with the weekly action hosted by Bearing Witness, and several clergy of various denominations spoke and led in song.

Dayenu is proud to be joining in the resistance to the increasing authoritarianism and lawlessness of this administration — and the horror of the ICE invasion of our cities.

These trends threaten so much of what we hold dear – including our ability to combat the climate crisis. Our ability to take meaningful climate action requires a government that responds to the will of the people and respects the rule of law. In this moment of intertwined crises, we can and must fight back to preserve our democracy and the potential for a just and livable future.

We have a moral calling to do all we can to build power to defeat authoritarianism. We must lift up our voices, organize our communities, and mobilize in solidarity with our friends, neighbors, and communities all across America.
