WE RISE: CLIMATE, JOBS & JUSTICE FOR ALL
in 2025, we’re rising up to demand a just and livable future
Corporate polluters and their allies in Congress and the White House are waging an all out assault on climate action. Nevertheless, the clean energy revolution is here and it’s undeniable. “Ma’alin ba-kodesh v’ayn moridin,” once we set out upon a holy path – toward a clean energy future – we rise, we do not descend.
This year, we’ll be mobilizing to unleash the full force of state and local climate action to strengthen our communities today and secure a just, livable future for generations to come. Now, we rise – and demand we keep going toward progress, not destruction.

WHAT IS WE RISE?
We Rise: Climate, Jobs & Justice for All is Dayenu’s national campaign to unleash the full force of state and local climate action to strengthen our communities today and secure a just, livable future for generations to come.
While corporate polluters and their allies in Congress and the White House are waging an all out assault on climate action, the clean energy revolution is here, it’s undeniable, and it’s gaining steam in cities and states across the country. To strengthen our communities today and secure a just, livable future for generations to come, we must unleash the full force of state and local climate action. Rooted in Jewish wisdom and spirit, learning from our ancestors, and building a legacy for our children, WE RISE to meet the moment, and win CLIMATE, JOBS & JUSTICE FOR ALL.
WHY THIS CAMPAIGN NOW?
The fossil-fuel-backed far-right trifecta in Washington, DC is waging an all-out assault on climate action, part of President Trump’s larger effort to sacrifice the health, safety, and future of everyday Americans so that billionaires and massive corporations can get even richer and more powerful.
The climate crisis will surely accelerate, affecting everyone and exacerbating historical inequities. But the clean energy revolution is here, it’s undeniable, and it’s gaining steam in cities and states across the country. To strengthen our communities today and secure a just, livable future for generations to come, we must unleash the full force of state and local climate action. “Ma’alin ba-kodesh v’ayn moridin,” once we set out upon a holy path – toward a clean energy future – we rise, we do not descend.
WHAT'S THE STRATEGY?
1. Offer hizuk (strength and courage) and call on state and local officials to act boldly to confront the climate crisis.
Targets: Governors, mayors, county executives, state and local policymakers
- Cities and states can significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions, accelerate the transition to affordable and accessible clean energy and climate solutions, create good, green jobs, and/or champion the rights of environmental justice communities.
- We will ensure our state and local officials don’t backslide or back down on their previous commitments.
- We will demand our state and local officials take ambitious action to accelerate the transition to a just, clean, energy economy and advance equitable climate solutions.
- We will demand our state and local officials stop the unfettered influence of fossil fuel corporations. We will hold these corporations to account and make them pay for the climate damages they’re responsible for and the solutions we so desperately need.
2. Challenge the increasingly authoritarian federal government that endangers state and local climate action, and our health and futures.
Targets: Congress, Policymakers
- We will raise a moral voice when the far-right trifecta attacks environmental protections, climate action, and environmental justice.
- Our representatives in Congress are one of the few remaining checks that can stop President Trump’s assault on climate and justice. We will demand our Members of Congress protect climate investments and the agencies that safeguard our air, water, and futures.
- If cuts or rollbacks do occur (as, sadly, is already happening), we will demand state and local officials make up the difference.
