Protect People and Places We Love: Oppose the Dirty Deal Petition

TELL YOUR SENATOR:
OPPOSE THE DIRTY DEAL

Once again, fossil fuel corporations and the politicians who do their bidding are pushing forward a dangerous bill to rapidly build out dirty energy projects.

The “Energy Permitting Reform Act” is littered with massive giveaways to Big Oil, Gas, & Coal. That’s why advocates have dubbed it “The Dirty Deal.”

As Jews and people of faith, we know that the only path to a livable future is one of tzedek, justice –everyone deserves clean air, water, health and safety.

For decades, Black, Brown, Indigenous, and low income communities have been treated as so-called “sacrifice zones,” where the fossil fuel industry has located dirty, polluting plants and pipelines. We stand with impacted communities, policymakers, and hundreds of climate and environmental partners to say NO giveaway to Big Oil. Call on your Senators to stop this Dirty Deal today!

Senator,

As Jews committed to a just and livable world, and as constituents, we understand the very real harm dirty energy causes to people and sacred places. If we are serious about confronting the climate crisis, we cannot allow more drilling rigs in Black and Brown peoples’ backyards or pipelines through Indigenous lands and waters that lock us into decades more of polluting fossil fuels.

The Energy Permitting Reform Act of 2024 would send us in the wrong direction, greenlighting dirty energy projects while limiting input and protections for nearby communities. Any legislation that seeks to fast track fossil fuels while sacrificing the health and safety of our neighbors runs counter to our values.

For our families, for impacted communities across the country, and for generations to come, we call on you to reject this “Dirty Deal” permitting reform bill, and instead to champion urgent and robust support for a clean energy future.
